Inch Sticks

(1 customer review)
Price range: $125.00 through $185.00

A log rule (used for log scaling) with only diameters called out in inches.

Description

Our inch sticks begin the same way our other log scaling sticks do: as rough-sawn, kiln-dried 8/4 hickory.

After providing ample time to acclimate, they are roughly sized and allowed to settle again. We then remove any newly witnessed “twist” during final dimensioning.

This acclimating step is important, as it allows us to get as close to a “straight” and “stable” finished product as possible.

However, keep in mind that this is “real wood”, and is expected to exhibit some movement through its life.

All information is then CNC laser engraved onto the stick.

We next apply color to the stick.

All inch numbers (log diameter) on the faces and sides, as well as the inch dividers, are hand-painted black.

Final finish involves 3-5 coats of spar urethane finish being applied, sanding between coats.

Each head (tip) is handmade, epoxied to stick, and pinned through the stick.

The large print numbers also make it easy to read, even at arms-length.
